6 November 2025
On 6 November 2025 Agri Vision Foundation visited Hoogekraal Primary School to officially launch the school’s new vegetable garden project, made possible through the generous sponsorship of Atterbury Trust. Guillaume Nell spent the full day training teachers, garden personnel and learners on seedling production, bed preparation, correct planting techniques and ongoing garden care. Three 15 m² gardens were prepared and planted using Laeveld Agrochem Summer 15 m² seed packs, providing a diverse mix of fast-growing summer vegetables perfectly suited to the sandy coastal soil.
Zahn Hulme from Atterbury Trust joined the morning session and was warmly welcomed by the entire school. Principal Eric Jacobs was actively involved throughout the day and expressed deep gratitude for the support that will now enable the school to produce its own fresh vegetables for the feeding scheme. The learners enthusiastically participated in hands-on activities, proudly planting their first seeds and learning how the six-week rotation system will ensure a constant supply of produce. A fourth garden is scheduled for planting on 18 December, with one new bed added every six weeks thereafter to maintain year-round production. Agri Vision Foundation is proud to partner with Hoogekraal Primary and Atterbury Trust in this meaningful initiative that combines practical agriculture, nutrition education and community empowerment. We look forward to watching both the gardens and the children flourish.
