Zithulele, Wild Coast 5 December 2024
Agri Vision Foundation visited the Mpame community, a remote area along South Africa’s Wild Coast, from 14 to 22 December 2024, in support of local agricultural initiatives. The aim was to empower small-scale farmers by providing training in seedling cultivation, improving farming practices, and fostering self-reliance through sustainable agriculture.
The visit focused on strengthening relationships within the Mpame community, engaging local farmers, and supporting agricultural projects. Training sessions were conducted with individuals like Novatile to demonstrate proper seedling planting and care. Additionally, Agri Vision Foundation built a temporary seedling shelter at the Chief’s garden and later upgraded it to a more permanent structure. Collaboration discussions were held with local partners Tony and Jean, exploring opportunities to establish a community nursery. We also worked with ‘’Farming God’s Way’’ facilitator Riaan van Rensburg to strengthen relationships. The Home Garden starter packs, generously supplied by Laeveld Agrochem, were distributed to support these efforts.
Additionally, our church family has planted a church in Zithulele, creating opportunities for spiritual growth alongside community development. Every Nation Stellenbosch has been actively involved in Zithulele through several outreach efforts over the years and plans to continue with annual follow-up outreaches. This synergy aligns with Agri Vision Foundation’s commitment to holistic support, integrating faith-based initiatives with sustainable agricultural development.
Agri Vision Foundation remains dedicated to working alongside the Mpame community, ensuring ongoing mentorship and the sustainability of these agricultural projects.
